For the past 32 years, Mars has worked in education, human services and recreation.  During the past 12 years, he has served the districts of San Bernardino City Unified School District (2006 to 2014) and Fontana Unified School District (2015-2016).  His role in both districts was assisting families with community resources and creating opportunities for parents to be engaged in the education of their children through a variety of family engagement initiatives. He also developed strong relationships and partnerships with community members, public agencies, non-profit and faith-based organizations to improve academic outcomes for students. Currently, he serves the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools as the Family/Community Engagement Program Specialist supporting the 33 districts throughout the county with their respective community engagement initiatives.
